The Liberty Parks & Rec Health & Wellness Division offers a variety of specialty fitness classes and one or two day workshops to help you reach your fitness goals and live to your fullest potential. Spend some time this summer on yourself.

Fit for Life: This small group program is designed to focus on improving your overall health as you age. You will work with a personal trainer who specializes in making fitness available for all. You will focus on flexibility, mobility, range of motion, balance and strength training to help you maintain or improve your quality of life. Dates: June 20-July 18 and July 30-Aug. 22
Walk With Ease: This is an evidenced based program brought to you by the experts at the Arthritis Foundation. This program has been shown to reduce pain and improve your overall health. Put your best foot forward and start your walking program today to help you feel great.This program includes six weeks of classes and increased walking. Date: June 25- Aug. 3
Active Living Every Day: Do you know you should get more exercise, but don’t know how? Are you frustrated because you’ve started exercise programs before, but failed? If so, you’re not alone. But there’s good news. The Active Living Every Day (ALED) program can help you get on track and stay there. During weekly Active Living classes you’ll find ways to be active every day: at work, at home, on vacation, etc. You'll learn the skills you need to become and stay physically active. Including overcoming barriers to physical activity, how to set realistic goals, build confidence, and stay motivated. Active Living Every Day classes are discussion based, practical, and personalized. Date: Aug. 3 - Nov. 15
Nutrition 101: Want to know more about Macros? Struggling with decoding nutrition labels? Does eating healthy on a budget seem impossible? Join us for a 90-minute hands-on, interactive crash course in nutrition! You’ll leave feeling like you know basic nutrition concepts, have tools to successfully navigate the grocery store, and have a step-by-step meal planning template designed to help you develop you own personalized meal plan. Date: Aug. 9
Foam Roller: Do your muscles hurt? Are you stretching and your muscles still feel tight? Or maybe you feel your muscles are too tight to even stretch so you don’t. Foam rolling is a great way to loosen up tight muscles, increase range of motion, as well as improve circulation. Foam rolling is a form of self-myofascial release (aka self-massage). This 1-hour foam rolling workshop will cover why you should use your foam roller and how to use your foam roller properly during. Dates: July 14 and Aug. 11
Meditation w/ Lauri: Have you been wanting to explore the benefits of a regular meditation practice but weren’t sure how to begin? This 2-hour workshop will be split into two weekly 1-hour sessions where we will take that transformational first step - or should we say “sit”! We will talk about methods of meditation, props you can use, and health benefits. We will start the hour with discussion and end with a 20 - 30 minute meditation practice. Meditation is traditionally done seated on the floor on a cushion or blanket but it is fine to be seated in a chair. All levels welcome. Dates: July 16 and July 23 (2 day workshop)
Intro to Meditation with Kelly: Intro to Meditation with Kelly is a workshop to learn about the benefits of meditation, get an introduction to different meditation techniques. You will have a chance to ask questions, practice experiencing stillness, and work thru the road blocks that keep us from spending time with our thoughts. Date: Sept. 8
Yoga for Back Pain: Do you suffer from back pain? Most of us don't realize that back pain is coming from flexibility and strength issues in other areas of the body. This workshop will breakdown the anatomy of the spine- including hips, knees, feet, and shoulders- constant offenders in the cause of back pain. A combination of learning and posture, we will spend the time creating more movement and health for our spines. Date: Aug 4
