Guided Walking Tours

Join the City of Liberty and Historic Liberty, Inc. for the annual Historic Walking Tour Series. These architecture and history tours highlight Liberty’s historic features and stories of the past. 

Tours are led by a variety of volunteers and local experts and are a favorite among history and architecture buffs across the metropolitan area. These tours are free, unless otherwise noted, and open to the general public. 

2025 Guided Walking Tour Schedule

May 3 - Garrison School Cultural Center

Join Cecelia Robinson, Historian for the Clay County African American Legacy, Inc., as she takes you on a tour of the Garrison School Cultural Center. This tour will begin at 10 a.m. at the entrance to the school (502 N. Water St.).

June 7 - William Jewell Walking Tour

One of Liberty's oldest institutions sits quietly on the eastern edge of downtown. William Jewell College, founded in 1849, has picturesque buildings and a long history. Join William Jewell alums Juarenne Hester and David Fulk for a tour around the Quad starting at 10 a.m. at the west steps of Jewell Hall. This tour will focus on Jewell's rich history, beautiful architecture and more.

Aug. 2 - Downtown Churches

Learn about some of downtown Liberty's most historic and beautiful churches, quirks in their history and controversies from the early years. The tour will meet at 138 N. Main St. at the First Presbyterian Church courtyard at 10 a.m.
