In order to limit the exposure and still provide service for basic needs, groceries and pharmacy, we have come up with the following plan:
Allow one grocery and one pharmacy trip per every two weeks.
Trips will be prioritized by need. Every client will have an opportunity in the next two weeks to get to the store and pharmacy, but those with critical needs will be placed on the list first.
If an individual lives in a single dwelling they will be taken as a single trip in the SUV and those who live in an apartment will be taken with no more than four clients by the smaller bus seated away from each other.
The driver will sanitize the bus between each run.
For those at greater risk due to health conditions, we will use the early shopping hour at Hy-Vee or Price Chopper. This would mean trips starting at 7 a.m. Those people will be taken as a single passenger. All clients will be advised to get at least two weeks worth of groceries.
All medical appointments are suspended. We don’t normally take people that are sick. Those that are needing prescription refills are being taken care of by doctor offices without being seen.
Transportation for adults 60 and older is provided within the city limits of Liberty free of charge. Physically challenged individuals (ages 18-59) who do not have access to their own transportation may also utilize Liberty Access for a nominal fee.
Rides to the doctor, grocery store and pharmacy are free of charge for individuals 60 and older. A nominal fee of $1 per one way trip is applied for physically challenged individuals (ages 18-59).
