Bulky Item Collections

Please note: As a precaution to limit the spread of COVID-19, Republic Services is not picking up bulky items (or scheduling bulky item collection appointments) during the Stay Home Order. Once the orders are lifted and they resume bulky item collection.

To provide residents with a more flexible option when it comes to disposal of bulky items, the City of Liberty and Republic Services are moving away from the two annual clean up weeks each year to a pick-your-own-time bulky item pick up schedule.

Beginning March 1, 2020, two collections per year will be offered to each residential address in Liberty. To schedule a collection day, call Republic Services at 816-521-3110. Then place the items at the curb or roadway by 7 a.m. on your scheduled collection day.

Please keep in mind that, with the exception of large pieces of furniture, each item must not exceed 40 pounds or be longer than 4 feet. Wood must be bundled in 4-foot lengths and weigh less than 40 pounds. To assist the trash collectors, please be sure that all items are securely tied, bagged or bundled.

The following items are NOT eligible for collection:

  • Sleeper sofas
  • Tires
  • Hazardous waste (including paint, insecticides, chemicals, fluorescent light bulbs, batteries, etc)
  • Appliances
  • Construction / remodeling materials larger than 4"x4", roofing material or railroad ties
  • Yard waste
  • Concrete, rock and rubble

If you need more than two pick ups each year, you can schedule additional dates with Republic Services for an additional fee.
