Did You Know?

70% of Americans believe that the “arts improve the image and identity” of their community.

- Americans Speak out about the Arts, 2018

The LPR Parks Maintenance team is heavily involved in the removal and installation of the sculptures for the Liberty Arts Commission's Rotating Sculpture Program that debuted in 2017. Each year, a piece is purchased and added to the public art collection. Some have been installed in Liberty parks --have you noticed them? Thanks to our staff for their hard work on these beautiful additions to Liberty!

Previous DYK's for 2021:

  • Did You Know? Each year, more than 1,400 people rely on the Liberty Community Christmas Tree (LCCT) program to make their holiday season a little brighter. In 2020, the LCCT provided food and gifts to 370 families with 945 children and 135 seniors. - LCCT By The Numbers
    • Here is what one recipient had to say about the program. “I am disabled and have been getting a Christmas box each year since 2011. Each year, when I see the students delivering, it brings tears to my eyes. And this year--oh, it’s been such a bad year for every one-and it’s so nice that there are still people out there continuing to help those of us who have so little.“ If you or someone you know could benefit from this program, you can learn more and apply online or provide additional support by adopting a family, donating food or making a donation today!

    • Liberty Meals on Wheels is in desperate need of regular (once a week) and substitute (average once per month) drivers. The meals are picked up between 11-11:15 a.m. and delivered to seniors in need within the City of Liberty. • The Liberty Parks & Rec Foundation (LPRF) is currently raising funds to support the youth scholarship program to ensure that no child is turned away due to inability to pay. Since the program began in 2009, the LPRF has been able to provide $94,000 in scholarships assisting 1,305 individuals.
