Regular, study and special sessions are open to the public. Liberty citizens are encouraged to attend. The public has the opportunity to participate in open meetings during citizen participation or during public hearings.
Meetings of the City Council are held on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall. It is at these meetings that City Council takes formal action.
Generally, Study Sessions are held on the 1st or 3rd Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall. Study Sessions are an opportunity for the City Council to study a particular topic in-depth. No formal action may be taken at a Study Session, but general direction is provided.
Special Council Meetings are meetings held for formal action on items occurring at a time other than the regularly scheduled 2nd or 4th Monday of a month.
Council may, from time to time, vote to close a meeting (called an executive session) for reasons allowed under the Missouri Sunshine Law. The vote to close these meetings and the reason for the closure are included in a public meeting.
