[ARCHIVED] Light the Square to kick off the holiday season & the annual Community Christmas Tree program

Ring in the holiday season with the lighting of Liberty’s historic downtown square on Thursday, November 15.

This year, the event has a new location and new time. The festivities will take place on the Rooney Courthouse plaza at 6:30 p.m. This year’s entertainment will still feature students from Liberty School District elementary schools singing a collection of holiday songs prior to the lighting ceremony, but will also showcase a number of new “acts” including:
• Reading of the Night Before Christmas
• The Liberty Youth Choir
• The Liberty Arts Commission’s juried holiday art exhibit that will feature Liberty artists inside City Hall.
The evening’s events will culminate with the flip of a switch turning on the thousands of lights trimming the historic buildings around the square. Santa Claus will be on hand, so don’t forget your cameras!
Free cookies and hot chocolate will be available. This event serves as the kick off for the Liberty Community Christmas Tree Program.
