The state-wide tornado drill will occur at 1:30 p.m., as part of the Missouri Severe Weather Awareness Week, which runs from March 2-6
Beginning in April, the City will test the sirens at 11 a.m. on the first Wednesday of every month, with the completion of the monthly testing ending in October. The City will not sound the sirens on these days if the weather conditions do not allow.
The outdoor warning system is designed to alert people who are outdoors that something dangerous is approaching. For alerts indoors, every home should have a NOAA All-Weather Radio which can be purchased at many local retailers. Make sure to choose a radio that runs on electricity and batteries to ensure you will still have access to weather updates in the event of a power outage. This type of radio is like a smoke detector for severe weather, and it can wake you up when a warning is issued for your area so you can take appropriate action
