Spring is coming and that often means the Liberty Animal Shelter will be inundated with litters of kittens and puppies. In an effort to help prevent companion animal overpopulation, Liberty Animal Control has coordinated with three Liberty veterinarians to offer a reduced-price sterilization program.
Feb. 23-28, pet owners will pay:
- $85 to spay or neuter a cat. This also includes rabies and feline distemper vaccinations, pain management and a physical exam.
- $95 to spay or neuter a dog. This also includes rabies and canine distemper/parvo vaccinations, heartworm test, pain management, physical examination and a City license.
These discount package deals are available to Liberty citizens, with proof of residency. Additional charges could be incurred for pets that are pregnant or in-heat, as well as for treatment of any medical concerns the veterinarian may discover during examination.
If you're interested in taking advantage of this special, please contact one of the following veterinarians as soon as possible, as there are a
limited number of appointments available:- Crossroads Animal Hospital: 816.781.1510
- Northside Veterinary Clinic: 816.781.3900
- Veterinary Center of Liberty: 816.781.0778
This program is part of the 21st Annual World Spay Day, presented by the Humane Society of the United States on Feb. 24 this year.
Altering pets prevents the birth of unwanted litters of puppies and kittens, thus reducing the number of homeless pets. By taking advantage of this program, citizens can help reduce the number of stray animals in their neighborhoods and reduce the number of animals that are turned in to the animal shelter each year.
