[ARCHIVED] Downtown Streetscape Reconstruction Project update - Aug. 17

In an effort to make up time lost due to delays from unforeseen utility issues, City staff has requested that the Downtown Streetscape Reconstruction Project contractor bring in a second crew to begin work on the second phase of the project on Kansas Street.

As a result, Kansas will be closed from Prairie to Gallatin, beginning Monday, Aug. 22, to allow the contractors to begin work on the storm sewer. Once this section of storm sewer work is completed, the contractor will close Kansas, from Prairie to Main to undertake Phase 2 of the project.

Parents of Franklin Elementary students should note that the pedestrian crossings on Kansas at Gallatin will be closed.

During this period, visitors to downtown will still be able to access the City parking lot between Prairie and Gallatin. During this time, the original crew will continue installing curb, gutter and roadway on Phase 1 on Main Street between Mississippi and Franklin.
