We are sorry to report that due to conditions at Capitol Federal Sports Complex and the fireworks shoot site, we have made the difficult decision to postpone this year's Liberty Fest.
More than 7 inches of rain have fallen over the sports complex in the last week and the grassy areas where we hold the event activities and park the majority of the cars are flooded. In addition, access to the site used to shoot the fireworks is inaccessible for the fireworks company.
Staff spent the last few days (as the rain continued to fall) weighing all of the options, making multiple contingency plans, ultimately deciding that postponing to a later date is the only option that will allow us to host the quality event that our Community has grown to expect.
We have been in contact with most of the groups that go into making Liberty Fest such a memorable event -- fireworks company, band, shoot site property owner, Liberty Area Chamber of Commerce, bounce house company (including the balloon and face painting artists), and all are available on July 30!
We hope you will be able to join us on July 30 for the Liberty Fest you know and love! Stay tuned for all the details.
