Last year, the Liberty Police HQ Community Group, made up of Liberty citizens from each ward and an at-large member, worked with the Liberty Police and Public Works Departments, architecture firm Hoefer Welker, and an independent moderator to conduct an extensive evaluation of the current Liberty Police Department space at Liberty City Hall.
From that research, the Community Group presented recommendations to the City Council to expand the Police facilities at City Hall with priorities that included:
- Modern facilities our Police Officers need to fight crime and serve our community.
- Improved security for the public and staff.
- A dedicated, flexible conference space that can be used for training, department-wide meetings and public events.
- Secure space for evidence collection and storage.
- Safe and confidential spaces for victims reporting crimes.
Liberty Police HQ Community Group will host a public meeting to share their findings from the space needs study and present information about a proposed Police Department expansion.
