[ARCHIVED] LANE CLOSURE - For 291 Improvement Project

UPDATE AS OF 7/7/25 - Beginning, Tuesday, July 8, the northbound right lane of M-291 from Kansas to Stewart will be closed to allow the contractor to safely work on utility conflict identification, grading and other construction activities.

UPDATE  AS OF 5/8/25 - The crew has closed the Route 291 entrance to the Liberty Crossing shopping center to replace the drive entrance to allow for the installation of new sidewalks. Please use the entrances at Forrest Avenue at Kansas Street or College Street at Route 291. This closure started May 6 and will last about two weeks, weather permitting.

LANE CLOSURE - Starting Wednesday, April 30, the right lane (southbound) on Route 291 will be closed as contractors start Phase 1 of the 291 Improvement Project.

In partnership with MoDOT, the City of Liberty is making improvements along Route 291 including at the intersections of Stewart Road and Blue Jay Drive, and adding sidewalks from Kansas Street north to the North Havens Commercial Development.

Liberty Public Works has been working on this project since 2023 and hosted public meetings throughout the process to gather input from the community.

Please follow all traffic control signage, which will change as the project progresses and drive with caution while in the area as the crews work to complete this project by the end of the year.

Updates will be shared on the City's Facebook page as the project progresses and when the road / lane closures are scheduled to change.
