Liberty residents are invited to attend open houses to learn how changes in Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will affect properties, flood insurance requirements and real estate mortgages.
Representatives from FEMA, the State of Missouri State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and AMEC Earth and Environmental will explain the changes to FIRMs and answer questions. Preliminary FIRMs are available for public review online at http://12.23.244.78/ClayFPs/ and at the Clay County Planning and Zoning Department at 234 W. Shrader Street, Suite C, Liberty, Mo.
The open houses are scheduled for Thursday, April 21 from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. and from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. in the Clay County Commission Hearing Room located on the 3rd floor for the County Administration Building at One Courthouse Square, Liberty, Mo.
