[ARCHIVED] Get rid of household hazardous waste at mobile collection event on Oct. 22

Residents can drop off their household hazardous waste from 8 a.m. - noon in the Liberty City Hall parking lot at the intersection of Kansas and Missouri streets. Electronic waste is not accepted at this event. Waste will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Up to 300 cars can be served at this event.

This event is for household waste only; business waste will not be accepted. Residents who are unable to take advantage of this local event can utilize one of two drop-off centers in the metropolitan area. The centers are located at:

City of Kansas City
4700 Deramus
Hours: Thurs. & Fri. 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Sat. 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.

City of Lee's Summit
2101 S.E. Hamblen Road
Hours: Open on first Saturday of the month, 7 a.m. - noon; third Wednesday of each month, year round, 2 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. (paint only on Wednesdays). 100-pound limit per visit.

The mobile collection event is made possible through Liberty’s participation in the Regional Household Hazardous Waste Program. In 2010, Liberty residents safely disposed of 56,753 pounds (or 28.4 tons) of household hazardous waste of at mobile events and at permanent facilities in the metro area.
