The Liberty City Council unanimously approved the appointment of James Simpson as Liberty’s new police chief at its meeting on November 14.
Simpson, a long-time Liberty resident, has been serving as interim police chief since January 2011, following the retirement of former Police Chief Craig Knouse. A member of Liberty’s Police Department since 1985, Simpson has risen through the ranks, spending the last seven years as the department’s deputy police chief.
