[ARCHIVED] Mar 2 - Liberty Travelers head to Coterie Theatre to see "Freedom Sisters"

As part of the new Over 50 after 5:00 program created by the Liberty Parks & Recreation Senior Services division, a trip has been scheduled to see Freedom Sisters at the Coterie Theatre on March 2.

It is 1950s America, the Deep South; a world on the verge of change but still tainted by everyday injustices and the remnants of slavery. One of those dead people is Lizzie's great-great-great grandmother Sojourner Truth, freedom fighter of slavery, whose voice could not be silenced. As Lizzie unpacks the past, she listens to Sojourner and, in the process, discovers her own voice...fearless, joyful, full of resolve

The fee is $27 per person. Price includes transportation, theatre ticket and driver’s gratuity. Registration deadline is February 3. The bus will depart at 5:15 p.m. from the Liberty Community Center, 1600 S. Withers Rd.

To register for this and other trips and activities, contact the Liberty Community Center at 439-4360 or visit www.ci.liberty.mo.us/SeniorServices.
