There will be a booth for the Cemetery Committee to answer your questions or concerns and to help locate graves.

Clay County Archives will join us for the second year to help with genealogy questions, historical research and resources.

The American Legion will be represented to answer questions about ordering military headstones and signing up for the “Avenue of Flags”.

The VFW will have a service at 10:00am on Memorial Day to honor the servicemen who gave their lives for our country. Taps will be performed as well as a 21 gun salute. A Councilman will speak and an Eagle Scout, Steven Untch will sing the National Anthem with the Paeth Quartet accompanying him.

The Cemetery Advisory Committee invites the public to come and see the improvements to the cemeteries. Street signs have been set as well as a columbarium. Tree Liberty has planted more trees in honor of former Councilwoman and Cemetery Committee member, Coni Hadden.

Come and enjoy the crowning jewel of Memorial Day, the “Avenue of Flags”. The American Legion has sponsored this event for more than ten years. More than three hundred flags are set every morning and taken down every evening. It is a big job. The effect is breathtaking. Boy Scouts place small flags at all the military headstones. It is a sea of red, white and blue.
