With a week of high temperatures ahead, the Liberty Fire Department and the Liberty Community Center announce the opening of a cooling center.
The Community Center lobby is open as a cooling center when temperatures reach 90 degrees or greater during regular hours. Area residents who would like to take advantage of the cooling center during these times should go to the main lobby of the Liberty Community Center, 1600 S. Withers Road.
The Community Center is open:
Mon. - Thurs. - 5:30 a.m. - 10:00 p.m.
Fri. - 5:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Sat. - 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Sun. - 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
This provides area residents a cool place to get out of the oppressive heat that's stretching across the metropolitan area. People are encouraged to bring their necessary personal items like medicines and ready-to-eat snacks.
Please pass this information on to family, friends and neighbors who may need a cool place to go during this week.
