[ARCHIVED] Parks & Rec receives grants for new safety surfaces in two parks

Beginning August 6, the playgrounds at Stocksdale Park and the 5-plex at Fountain Bluff Sports Complex will be closed in preparation of new safety surfaces.

Pour-in-place material is made from shredded recycled rubber mixed with a polyurethane resin. It is a seamless surface that eliminates trip hazards, requires minimal maintenance through its life cycle, is virtually indestructible, and provides excellent wheelchair mobility automatically meeting ADA requirements. A similar grant was received in 2011 for the surface at City Park.

Funding for these projects was made possible through the Parks Quarter-Cent Sales Tax and a grant from the Missouri Department Resources Solid Waste Management Division.
