[ARCHIVED] Living History Tour & celebration to highlight Liberty’s oldest cemetery on Oct. 6

Preceding the tour, a reception with refreshments will be held to dedicate the plaque identifying the site’s National Register designation. The reception and plaque dedication will begin at 9 a.m. The tour will immediately follow and will last about an hour.

This event will also include the planting of a burr oak tree, donated by the Liberty Parks and Recreation Department, to recognize the rejuvenation of the cemetery since a 2003 tornado felled many of the old trees that once stood there.

The cemetery is located on the campus of William Jewell College, with easiest access from East Miller Street. The event is free and open to the public.

For more information about this event, call the City’s Preservation Office at 816.439.4537.
