The construction of the Flintlock Overpass will require the closure of I-35 in both directions in order for the contractor to place bridge girders over the interstate. The planned closure of both northbound and southbound lanes is scheduled for Saturday, March 2 at 10 p.m. and will last until 6 a.m. on Sunday, March 3, weather permitting.
I-35 will be closed from the interchange with I-435 to M152 with traffic detoured along I-435 to M152 for the extent of the closure. Traffic detour signs and ramp closures will begin before 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 2 in order to have all traffic off of I-35 by 10 p.m. The contractor will stage the bridge girders being delivered on trucks along westbound South Liberty Parkway in order for the trucks to pull directly on to I-35 to the bridge so that cranes may move the girders into place. Local traffic will be detoured along Church Road or Stewart Road to access the interstate.
