The Commit to Get Fit: Fittest in Liberty Challenge is part of the department’s efforts to create a healthier Liberty and to help people step up their activity and fitness levels. • Sit-and- reach test (measures core flexibility)
• 1-minute timed sit ups (measures muscle endurance)
• Bench press (measures muscle strength)

Youth 13 and 14 years of age can participate with a parent or adult guardian. Otherwise, program participants must be at least 15 years of age as of June 1, 2013.

Individuals will be scheduled for private pre-test appointments after they register. The post-test will be scheduled for August 10 or 11. Prizes will be awarded to individuals with the greatest fitness
gains at the conclusion of the challenge. All participants will receive a program t-shirt and will be registered automatically in an end-of-program Boot Camp 5K to be held August 17 at Stocksdale Park. Challenge participants also are invited to attend a FREE nutrition seminar on Saturday, July 13 from 6-7 p.m., at the Liberty Hy-Vee.

Enrollment in the Fittest in Liberty Challenge is as little as $25 for those that want to work through the challenge on their own or use their existing workout regimen. These participants will log their exercise daily online on
