In a cooperative effort with Liberty Animal Control to help prevent companion animal overpopulation, three Liberty veterinarians are participating in a reduced price sterilization program Feb. 24-28 that will save pet owners approximately $75 per animal. During this week, pet owners will pay:
-- $75 to spay or neuter their cat. This also includes rabies and other vaccinations. -- $95 to spay or neuter their dog. This also includes rabies and other vaccinations as well as a heart worm test and City license.
These discount package deals are available to Liberty citizens, with proof of residency. Interested persons are encouraged to call one of the following veterinarians as early as possible, as there are a limited number of appointments available: Crossroads Animal Hospital - 816.781.1510 Northside Veterinary Clinic - 816.781.3900 Veterinary Center of Liberty - 816.781.0778 This program is part of an advocacy for spaying and neutering of companion animals during “World Spay Day 2014,” put on by the Humane Society of the United States and the Humane Society International. World Spay Day celebrates its 20th anniversary on February 25, 2014.
Altering pets prevents the birth of unwanted puppies and kittens, thus reducing the number of homeless animals. By taking advantage of this program, the citizens of Liberty can help reduce the number of stray animals in their neighborhoods, and reduce the number of animals that must be euthanized each year.
