[ARCHIVED] New art exhibit at City Hall

The artwork of Thomas E. Gripp is now on exhibit at Liberty City Hall. 101 E. Kansas. Gripp uses pen and ink to create pieces that tell stories about places he has visited with his wife and two children.

Gripp believes his lack of formal training is an advantage, because it allows him the freedom to employ a variety of techniques. Recently, he started adding color to his intricate line drawings with gouache and colored pencil.

Gripp is a resident of Kansas City, Kan., where he has served as a captain in the Fire Department since 1997.

The exhibit is open to the public during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and will remain on display through June 4.

The public is invited to attend a reception for the artist on April 8, from 5-7 p.m. Gripp will give a brief talk about his work at 6:30 p.m.
