[ARCHIVED] Improvements coming to Westboro-Canterbury trail

One of Liberty’s most utilized asphalt trails is getting a facelift beginning this June 17, weather permitting!

The project includes renovation of the entire 2-mile trail and the two parking lots. Sections of the trail may be closed for up a week at a time while crews install an asphalt overlay and replace one section of the trails. Work on the parking lots will occur at the same time as work on adjacent trails.

The parks and trails improvement project is funded through $69,921 of budgeted Parks Sales Tax funds and a $58,500 Land and Water Conservation Funds grant.

In addition to the 2-mile trail, the greenway includes:

-- A picnic shelter
-- 2 playgrounds
-- A restroom
-- 1 Soccer/ Multi-Use Field
-- 1 Softball/ Multi-Use Field

If you haven’t already heard about our Family Parks Challenge (https://www.facebook.com/events/1663494163881003/) that runs during National Parks & Rec month in July, there’s a challenge that involves reading a few pages of your favorite book under a tree in the Westboro-Canterbury Greenway.

You can access the trail and all the greenway’s amenities from Withers Road, S. Wales Street, Park Lane or Canterbury Lane.
