Downtown Liberty is preparing for some exciting changes. We are developing a master plan to redesign and enhance Liberty's Historic Downtown.
This project is funded through the Economic Development Tax, which was passed in 2014 and implemented a 3/8 cent sales tax on purchases in Liberty. The City is committed to investing in improvements to the streets, crosswalks, sidewalks, water and sewer utilities in the downtown square area.
The estimated project budget is $5 million and construction will begin in May of 2016. Property owners, merchants, City staff and the City Council have begun researching potential improvements to the Downtown Liberty Square and are now looking for community input!
Join us for a public meeting on August 20 at Heritage Hall (117 W Kansas St.). We want to hear your ideas for streetscape improvements throughout the downtown district. There will be a brief presentation followed by a series of hands-on activities demonstrating what types of streetscape improvements may be possible for Liberty's space.
