The City’s Utilities Department will be repairing sections of the City’s water system that will affect customers along Sunset Avenue from Dains Street to Dorsey Street and from Hillside Drive to W. Franklin Street on December 5th and 6th. Water will be shut off beginning at 9 p.m. on December 5th. Crews will be working through the night to minimize the inconvenience. We anticipate water service will be restored no later than 7 a.m.
There will be several streets closed to through traffic including:
- Forest Lane, from N. Ridge Avenue to S. Terrace Avenue
- S. Fairview, from Liberty Drive to W. Kansas Street
- Moss Avenue, from Liberty Drive to W. Kansas Street.
There will also be a small section of Sunset, between S. Fairview Avenue to Moss Avenue, that will be closed to all traffic.
For those affected by this repair, here are some suggestions to minimize the inconvenience:
- Draw and store enough water for drinking and similar uses anticipated during the period of shut off.
- Complete bathing and washing of clothes and dishes prior to water shut-off.
After water service has been restored, if your water appears to be cloudy, run water from a faucet for several minutes or until it becomes clear.
We appreciate your patience as we undertake these much needed repairs.
