The property owner, Star Development, and demolition contractor is completing the the Department of Natural Resources requirements for asbestos abatement this week. Demolition mobilization will begin on Monday, Feb. 12.
The City's Building Division will require that the contractor limit the staging of heavy trucks between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., which is the primary lunch rush for the downtown restaurants.
Draft plans for the Water Street redevelopment have been brought to the Historic District Review Commission and the Downtown Task Force as work sessions to provide feedback for the developer to consider. The developer has six months to submit a proposed development plan which will go through the normal process of review by the Historic District Review Commission and Planning and Zoning Commission before going to the City Council.
