Clay County seniors are in for some welcome financial relief starting in 2025. The Clay County Senior Real Estate Property Tax Relief Program will open for applications online January 1, 2025. To be eligible for the Senior Real Estate Property Tax Relief program the person must turn or be at least 62 years of age during the calendar year of 2025, they must be a Clay County resident, the home they are claiming must be their primary residence and they must be responsible for payment of the taxes. Those persons with property in a trust must show legal equitable interest in the property being claimed to take advantage of the relief program.
The County will be hosting several informational sessions throughout the county beginning in September of 2024 and continue through early December of 2024, where the public may learn more and ask questions they may have relating to the program. These events do not require an appointment and are published on the county website.
Clay County staff will also be hosting nine community application events where staff members will be available to assist the public with the application and enrollment process. These events will be held January 2025, through March 2025, at various locations throughout the County.
