Through a citizen initiative and support of the Liberty Parks and Recreation Charitable Fund, fundraising is underway for a fenced, off-leash dog park in Liberty.
Several locations within the Liberty the park system are being considered, including areas in the Canterbury trails system and Stocksdale Park. Organizers estimate they will need to raise $25,000-$30,000 to cover the cost of fencing and providing drinking water to the park.
Anyone interested in volunteering to help raise funds should contact Beth Canuteson at 816.781.8560. A fundraising committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. November 23 at the Liberty Community Center, 1600 S. Withers Rd.
Or, if you would like to make a donation now, you can write a check to the Liberty Parks and Recreation Charitable Fund and mail or bring it to the Liberty Community Center, Attn: Dog Park Fund, 1600 S. Withers Rd, Liberty, MO 64068. Also be sure to write "Dog Park Fund" in the memo line of your check.
