[ARCHIVED] Cooling Center open at Liberty Community Center during regular hours through Sun., Aug. 9

With another week of high temperatures and an excessive heat warning in effect at least through Wednesday, the Liberty Fire Department and the Liberty Community Center announce the opening of a cooling center.

The Community Center lobby will be open as a cooling center during regular hours through Sunday, August 15. Area residents who would like to take advantage of the cooling center this week should go to the main lobby of the Liberty Community Center, 1600 S. Withers Road. For a map to the Community Center, click the link below.

The Community Center is open:
Mon. - Thurs. - 5:30 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Fri. - 5:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.
Sat. - 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Sun. - 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.

This provides area residents a cool place to get out of the oppressive heat that's stretching across the metropolitan area. People are encouraged to bring their necessary personal items like medicines and ready-to-eat snacks.

Residents are encouraged to pass this information on to family, friends and neighbors who may need a cool place to go during this week.
