[ARCHIVED] UPDATE: Outdoor Warning Siren Test

UPDATE: Today’s testing of our outdoor warning sirens in conjunction with the statewide test was not successful. This is why we test! We have contacted our radio system service providers. Once the issue is identified and corrected, we will reschedule the test.

There are proactive steps you can take to make sure you, your family or your business are StormAware. – Take a few minutes to prepare and learn what you can do to stay safe when severe weather hits at https://stormaware.mo.gov/.

  • Purchase a NOAA All-Weather Radio if you don’t already have one for your home or business. This type of radio is like a smoke detector for severe weather, and it can wake you up when a warning is issued for your area so you can take appropriate action.
  • If you haven’t already, sign up for the City’s CodeRed notification system (which will be tested city wide later this afternoon). Learn more and register at https://www.libertymissouri.gov/…/Community-Notification-Sy…
  • If you have a smart phone, download one of the many free weather alerting apps.

ORIGINAL MESSAGE: This Statewide Tornado Drill marks the beginning of the City of Liberty's monthly outdoor warning siren testing. After the statewide drill, Liberty will test outdoor sirens at 11 a.m. on the first Wednesday of the month, April through October. The City will not sound the sirens on these days if the weather conditions do not allow.

For alerts indoors, every home and business should have a NOAA All-Weather Radio. This type of radio is like a smoke detector for severe weather, and it can wake you up when a warning is issued for your area so you can take appropriate action. To make sure you and your family are StormAware, visit https://stormaware.mo.gov/

As part of the statewide tornado drill, the City will also be conducting the citywide test of the CodeRed notification system later this afternoon.  If you haven't yet signed up for these alerts, you can learn more and register before today's test at https://www.libertymissouri.gov/2597/Community-Notification-System
