City Council Budget Committee

Committee Responsibilities

Once a year, the City Council approves a budget that outlines the policies and fiscal actions to be taken by the City. The City Council Budget Committee is responsible for the initial review of the annual budget submission, recommendation of the budget to the full City Council and the budgets ongoing review and implementation.

City Council created the Committee to provide increased public accountability and elected official monitoring of the fiscal position of the City. The Committee will periodically review and provide policy guidance to staff related to budgetary analysis and fiscal action plans and provide reports to the City Council.

The City Council Budget Committee typically meets monthly. Depending on the issues at hand, the Committee will meet more frequently. Meetings are generally scheduled for 3:30 p.m., on Wednesday.
